Is It Financially Possible To Study Abroad?

The answer to this question lies in the realm of what education means to people. Yes, it means good enough to travel abroad in pursuit of a culturally diverse qualification. And even greater is the experience of an educational system and society that is unique to yours. Considering all these possibilities, many ways are carved to gain this edge of studying abroad. And admitting higher tuition charges abroad in Dollars, and Euros, efforts are put forth not by just the seekers of education, but providers too.

According to statistics for the academic year 2011-12 report, 273,996 American students studied abroad, which is a 1.3% increase from the previous year. The common factor among most of them is the access to financial aid for studying abroad. Many educational and other institutes wish to promote study abroad options and hence the trend of financial aid has come about smoothly.

These days, there are provisional federal need-based aid, state need-based aid, merit scholarships and institutional aids available. The U.S government sponsors competitive fellowships and grants for studying abroad for graduate and undergraduate students. Foreign universities also sponsor indirect exchange programs. And even private organizations, non-profit companies and organizations related to your area of study can be approached for financial help in education.

The criteria for availing these grants are based on the amount of aid students qualify for, cost of the study abroad program, and dedication to getting financial aid for college. 70% of the American students that travel abroad spend a semester in the foreign country which adds to their experience. They all make smart moves such as registering for Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Checking with a financial aid officer at school is a brilliant idea.

Studying abroad is not that difficult, given all help is at hand. In U.S, Institute for International Education has been established to support international education. The CIEE offers many programs for students. The Association of International Educators has its members spread in many institutes across many countries and provides resources to plan a successful studying abroad experience. Through this, the whole idea has become very feasible now and requires students to research their options soon and set out abroad.
